13) The Way it Goes

Everybody sees what they expect to see. Everybody knows what they want to be. But we all know what we don’t want to know, and so, that’s the way it goes, oh.
That’s the way it goes.
Some of us try, try to get it right. We toil in the dark, turn day into night. ‘Cause we all know what we don’t want to know, and so, that’s the way it goes, oh.
That’s the way it goes.
Some of us feel what we don’t want to feel. We hide from the truth - beg, borrow and steal. ‘Cause we all know what we don’t want to know, and so, that’s the way it goes.
That’s the way it goes.
Can’t always be what you expect to be. Put in the effort, you’re bound to succeed. ‘Cause you all know what you don’t want to know, and so, that’s the way it goes, oh.
